Questions parents ask

About the app

What is Skupie?

Skupie is a phone app for parents of children in kindergarten through 12th grade. It shows what your state requires for school, explains common childhood illnesses and vaccines, and tells you about outbreaks near you — in English and Spanish.

When can I get it?

Skupie is coming in December 2026 for iPhone and Android. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when it’s ready, and now and then with product news.

How much does it cost?

$39 a year. There is no monthly subscription.

Which states does it cover?

All 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Is it in Spanish?

Yes. Every part of the app is in English and Spanish, with the same information in both.

Who is it for?

Parents, grandparents and other caregivers of school-age children in the United States. The app is meant for adults, not for children to use.

Is Skupie only for public schools?

No. Skupie is for families at any K-12 school. Most state vaccine rules apply to public and private schools alike. Some other requirements, like health exams, can differ for private schools or homeschool. Skupie shows what your state requires, and your school can confirm what applies to you.

Trust and safety

Is Skupie a government app?

No. Skupie is made by Skupie Inc, an independent company. We use information from government health agencies, but we are not part of any agency.

Does Skupie tell me whether to vaccinate my child?

No. Skupie does not take a side for or against vaccination. We explain what each vaccine is and what your state requires for school. The decision is yours, with your child’s health care provider.

Is this medical advice?

No. Skupie gives general health information. It does not diagnose or treat any illness, and it is not a replacement for your child’s health care provider. In an emergency, call 911.

Where does the information come from?

From state laws and rules, and from federal and state public health agencies such as the CDC and your state health department. Outbreak alerts come only from official health agencies. See Our Sources for details.

How current is it?

Urgent agency alerts are read every business day and outbreak data every week. Every source behind our school and disease content is checked on a regular schedule, and the app is updated when a rule changes.

Does Skupie cover exemptions?

Yes. School Readiness tells you which kinds of exemption your state allows and where to find the current forms and rules. Whether to use one is your decision.

Alerts and privacy

How often will Skupie notify me?

Rarely. You only get an urgent alert when a public health agency declares one. Everything else comes as one short summary on Sunday evening. You can choose weekly, urgent only, or off. We never send daily alerts.

What does Skupie store about my child?

Only a grade level and a picture you choose. No name, no date of birth and no health record. You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings at any time.

What else does Skupie collect?

See our Privacy Notice for what the website collects. The app’s full privacy policy will be published before launch.

Where are my Ask a Question answers kept?

Your saved answers are kept on your own phone, not in our cloud.

Can schools or school nurses use Skupie?

Skupie is built for parents, but school nurses are welcome to recommend it to families. If you work for a school or district, email hello@skupie.com.
