Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information Skupie Inc collects through our website, skupie.com, and our waitlist, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the website only. The Skupie app will have its own privacy policy before it launches.

The short version

• You can read our website without giving us any personal information.
• If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address, your state and the language you want us to write in. That’s all.
• We don’t ask for your child’s name, age, grade or any health information on this website.
• We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for ads.
• You can leave the waitlist at any time with one click.

What we collect

When you visit the website

• Basic technical information. Like every website, our hosting service (Google’s Firebase Hosting) receives standard information from your browser, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. This is used to deliver the page and keep the site secure.
• Cookies. We don’t use cookies for advertising. Right now the site uses no tracking or analytics cookies. If we add website analytics later, it will stay off unless you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner, and we will update this notice first. The waitlist form is the one exception: when you use it, reCAPTCHA may set a security cookie (see below).

When you join the waitlist

• Your email address
• Your state
• The language you want us to email you in (English or Spanish)
• A record of your consent: the date and time you signed up and confirmed, and the wording you agreed to

To stop spam and abuse, the sign-up form uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise. It loads only when you start filling in the form. It looks at information such as your IP address and how the page is used, and it may set a cookie for this purpose only, not for ads. Its use is covered by the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms). We also limit how many sign-ups can come from one address in a short time. To do that, we keep a scrambled (one-way) form of your IP address and email address for 24 hours, then delete it.

We don’t collect health information, information about your child, or payment details on this website.

How we use your information

We use waitlist information only to:

• send you one email to confirm your sign-up;
• tell you when Skupie is ready to download;
• send occasional news about Skupie, if you agreed to it when you signed up;
• tell you when the app’s content for your state is ready (that’s why we ask for your state);
• write to you in the language you chose; and
• keep the waitlist secure and free of fake sign-ups.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t share it for targeted advertising. We don’t let other companies use it for their own marketing.

We use a small number of service providers to run the website and send email. They may only use your information to provide their service to us:

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of our company. In that case, this notice would still apply to your information.

Where your information is kept

Your information is stored in the United States.

How long we keep it

• Confirmed waitlist sign-ups: until you leave the list, or 12 months after the app launches, whichever comes first.
• Sign-ups never confirmed: deleted within 30 days. The confirmation link stops working after 7 days.
• Anti-abuse counters (scrambled IP and email addresses): deleted after 24 hours.
• If you leave the list: your waitlist record is deleted at once. Our email provider keeps your address on a do-not-email list so we never email you again.
• Security and server logs: kept for a short time by our providers, then deleted.

Your choices

• Leave the waitlist. Every email from us has an unsubscribe link. One click removes you and deletes your waitlist record.
• See, correct or delete your information. Email privacy@skupie.com from the address you signed up with. We’ll reply within 45 days.
• Your state’s privacy rights. Depending on where you live, such as California, Texas or another state with a privacy law, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale or use for targeted ads. We don’t sell your information or use it for targeted ads. To use any of these rights, email privacy@skupie.com. We may ask you to confirm your request from your email address. You can also have an authorized agent ask for you. If we say no to your request, you can appeal by replying with the word “Appeal,” and we’ll answer within 60 days. We will never treat you differently for using your rights.
• Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of any analytics on our website.

Children

Our website and the Skupie app are for parents and other adults. The website is not meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email privacy@skupie.com and we’ll delete it.

Keeping your information safe

The website only works over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Waitlist information is stored in a protected database that the public cannot read, and only Skupie can reach it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is important, we’ll also email the waitlist.
